The Sawgrass Motel

The Sawgrass Motel, located on the dock in Cedar Key, just across from the new pier, is a rather funky-looking place, but would certainly put you in the center of the action!

We haven't been inside for awhile, but there's a gallery on the first floor for those of you who would like to shop for Florida-type stuff and Cedar Key specific items.

Its seems like an hotel from the old western movies :)

Have we seen the Sawgrass before from another angle? You really make the 'point' about the sharp edges of sawgrass with this image.

I don't think so, Brattcat, except in a long shot of the dock area...on the other hand, I'm getting old and forgetful and may have showed this same picture before ... hmm... nah...

Hope you're having a great day!

I just skimmed through your earlier posts and couldn't find it. But it sure was a pleasure going back and looking through this body of photographs. They're really outstanding.

It seems to be a very cool place indeed!

It does look more western than southern. I like the spindle work in the railings, they look like sunshine spindles.

I like the sunburst in the railings. The window displays and the colors really move the eye around the shot. Nice.

Would "Florida type stuff" mean stuffed baby alligators or an assortment of items made from coconut shells, hmmmmm????

Love the place though.

I would like to see this in person...looks interesting to say the least.

I often think of Florida in these colors, whether it's true or not (obviously not all the time). This just seems quintessential "Floria Postcard" to me. Have I seen too many "Flamingo Motels," maybe? Nice designs and colors!
